Three Maoists held in Muzaffarpur






MUZAFFARPUR: Three suspected Maoists and a dreaded dacoit were arrested from Minapur-Tariyani border area in course of an anti-Maoist joint combing operation launched by Muzaffarpur and Sheohar police with the help of SAP and CRPF jawans on Sunday.

According to senior SP (SSP) Rajesh Kumar, who is also holding the charge of DIG, Tirhut range, a pistol along with some live cartridges were recovered from the possession of the dacoit Bharat Sahni, who confessed his involvement in about a dozen dacoity cases under Minapur, Aurai and Katra police station areas.

One of the Maoists identified as Shyambabu Sahni of Rajepur belt in East Champaran district was wanted in connection with the murder of a CRPF assistant commandant in 2005. Other two arrested Maoists have been identified as Meghu Sahni of Ladaura village and Rambabu Shani of Maniyara village, both under Tariyani police station in Sheohar district.

Muzaffarpur DSP (East) Shibli Nomani, who led the joint operation said the Maoists and the dacoits were arrested when they were found moving in the area in a suspicious manner. They were brought to Minapur police station area for interrogation. Later, the Maoists were handed over to the Tariyani police.
