Violent militia clashes in southern Libya kill 70

"It is regrettable that more than 70 people have been killed and more than 150 have been wounded," said the spokesman, referring to clashes that erupted on 26 March between militia fighters from the southern city of Sabha and members of the Toubou tribe.

The spark for the violence was initially reported to be a dispute over a car, although subsequent reports suggested that clashes erupted when the Toubou refused to hand over one of their men who was accused by local authorities of killing a member of a rival tribe
