New Delhi: The Maoist guerrillas on Thursday abducted at least 12 people in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, hours after the home-grown rebels set Odisha BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka free from their captivity following hectic negotiation by the state government.
As per reports, the Maoists have also killed two villagers, who supposedly tried to resist the abduction of villagers.
The Maoists are demanding the urgent withdrawal of central paramilitary forces from the area and an immediate halt to combing operations.
Soon after the news of abduction and killing of villagers broke out, the state government rushed police force and senior officials of the local administration to spot to take stock of the situation.
